Important Changes to Accreditation for Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners
There have been changes to the accreditation regulations for Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners. The new accreditation regulations are based on new standards of competency that have been developed for the family relationships sector. The standards of competency were developed by the Community Services and Health Industry Skills Council and include new qualifications within the Vocational Education and Training System. These qualifications, including a Vocational Graduate Diploma in Family Dispute Resolution, were endorsed in September 2007.
**IFP offers a Vocational Graduate Diploma in Family Dispute Resolution which meets the Attorney General’s new accreditation requirements for family dispute resolution practitioners which take effect as of 1st July 2009.
**IFP also offers a Recognition (RPL) process for existing FDR practitioners.
Contact IFP on 02 8830 0755 orinfo@ifp.nsw.edu.au for more information.
For more information on accreditation please visit the Attorney General's Department website: http://www.ag.gov.au

Uniting Care Institute of Family Practice was a Silver Sponsor of this event along with Uniting Care Unifam Counselling and Mediation.
There was lots of interest in the IFP Master Class "Family Therapy" with Laurie MacKinnon which will be held in February 2010, as well as in the Professional Development Courses.
Some of the IFP Trainers presented workshops at the event: Megan Solomon and Kath Blake (representing Unifam) presented "How Do Kids Survive It? A Question of Resilience in Children and Young People in High Conflict Post Separated Families" and David Bailey presented a workshop on "Tried and True Family Therapy Interventions".
The lucky draw prize winner of the Laurie MacKinnon signed book was Dr H. Vidler who was delighted to receive Laurie's book.

The Institute of Family Practice attended the event as an exhibitor for the second year running.
IFP used this event to launch the 2010 Professional Development courses brochure and the 2010 Professional Qualifications brochure. At the event IFP offered a 2010 scholarship to the value of $1000.00 for event attendees. The winner of the scholarship will be announced soon.
The IFP stand was very busy throughout the event and we had a fantastic time talking to people who want to change their careers, commence studying or become more involved in their community.
