Certificate 4 in Community Services Work (CHC40708)

Description: The Certificate IV in Community Services Work is designed for workers where counselling is a complementary part of their work role.

This qualification would also be suitable for people who are interested in entering the community services workforce or who are exploring the possibility of moving into the counselling field.

This qualification (alone) is not designed to give the graduate the skills to practice as a counsellor.

National Recognised Qualification

Duration: 12 months

Entry Requirements: No prior knowledge or experience

Application process includes short essay and interview

  • Counselling Skills 1
  • Counselling Skills 2
  • Ethics and Administration
  • Working Across Cultures and Diverse Backgrounds
  • Child Protection Issues
  • Community Development: Theory and Practice
  • Case Management 1
  • Workplace Project
  • Occupational Health and Safety

Students then can move into the Diploma of Counselling. Exemptions will be given for subjects successfully completed and the Diploma can then be completed in one year.
